It’s Pretty Buggy Around Here

It’s a well-known phenomenon that submitting feedback reports to Apple via Feedback Assistant past mid-July during the iOS and macOS beta cycles basically means they’re thrown into the aluminum trash cans at Apple Park, so I’m compiling a list of all of my bug reports that still haven’t been fixed yet. I encourage readers who work at Apple to take a look at them. (I don’t include bug reports in my software hands-on articles because I feel that’s unfair.)

From November 15, 2022, filed as FB11794397: “When using NavigationSplitView on iPadOS, tapping a sidebar item when in portrait orientation doesn’t collapse the sidebar automatically like how it does in system apps.”
From March 25, 2023, filed as FB12080598: “Using Markdown to create inline links in SwiftUI doesn’t respect the app’s accent color — the link always stays blue.”
From June 13, filed as FB13894182: “Widgets using SwiftData do not display data from the model context on iOS 18.” Bizarre.
From June 13, filed as FB13879635: “Widgets from iOS apps on Apple silicon Macs do not appear.”
From June 16, filed as FB13924370: “When tapping from a detail view in a NavigationSplitView to the sidebar, the navigation selection is set to nil briefly.”
From June 18, filed as FB13952769: “Apps that ‘access data from other apps’ always show a permission prompt upon launch, even when Allow has been previously selected by a user.” (See: this screenshot.)
From June 22, filed as FB14006409: “Apps that have access to screen recording permissions force a system prompt asking to re-evaluate them daily.” (See: this screenshot.)
From June 24, filed as FB14045594: “System Settings → Storage inaccurately labels user files as ‘System Data.’” This bug has been marked by Apple as “unable to diagnose with current information,” but it has not requested more information. Feedback also says there have been “more than 10” recent reports.
From June 24, filed as FB14045856: “Impossible to open a non-notarized app from Finder without going into System Settings → Privacy & Security.” Jason Snell wrote about this on Six Colors.
From June 25, filed as FB14067308: “In iOS apps built with NavigationSplitView, swiping between the detail view and sidebar is not smooth.” I have a love-hate relationship with SwiftUI.
From June 29, filed as FB14123965: “Website icons in the Passwords app fail to load often.”
From June 29, filed as FB14124064: “Passwords often fails to ask to save a modified password after changing it on a website.”
From June 29, filed as FB14124164: “Unable to generate a new password in an existing item in the Passwords app on iOS.”
From July 7, filed as FB14221466: “‘Home Key & Express Mode’ pop-up in Home app doesn’t dismiss even if Set Up Now is tapped.”
From July 14, filed as FB14307612: “After using iPhone Mirroring, status bar icons on iPhones with the Dynamic Island appear smaller and dislocated.” Fine, I’ll admit I’m being nitpicky.
From July 21, filed as FB14429641: “When deleting a second website from an item in Passwords, the app crashes.”
